Ambassador of the United States of America Extends Deepest Condolences to the Government and the People of Kuwait

On the occasion of the passing of former ruler of Kuwait, His Highness Shaykh Saad Al-Abdullah Al Sabah, on behalf of the Government of the United States and the American people, Ambassador of the United States Deborah K. Jones, , expresses her heartfelt condolences to His Highness the Amir, Shakh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al Sabah; His Highness the Crown Prince, Shaykh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al Sabah; the Prime Minister, Shaykh Nasser Al-Mohammed Al-Ahmed Al Sabah; the late Shaykh’s son, Shaykh Fahad Saad Al-Abdullah Al Sabah;  the Al Sabah Family; and the Government and people of the State of Kuwait. The Ambassador has directed that the flag at the American Embassy fly at half staff during the three-day period of national mourning.  

The late Shaykh Saad Abdullah Al Sabah was a great leader during critical historical moments, well respected among his peers and by his people for his dedication to a life in service.   He played a significant role in creating a history of strong and steadfast relations between the United States and Kuwait.  Shaykh Saad also played a big role in the reconstruction of the country following Kuwait’s 1991 liberation.  His unfaltering leadership during the liberation of Kuwait will be long remembered; the close ties between our two countries will be a lasting moment to his vision and achievement.
