AMERICAN EMBASSY HOSTS AN EVENING OF POETRY and MUSIC

Poetry Night

The U.S. Embassy hosted an evening of American poetry and music on Tuesday, July 17, 2007, at the Hangout Lounge in Galleria 2000 shopping mall in Salmiya. The event included poetry readings and  recitations and performances, some accompanied by a selection of music by American recording artists. The readings were performed by Americans living in Kuwait.

he evening was an opportunity for Kuwaitis to experience  the diversity of American poetry, literature, and music . The poems included original works by Americans living in Kuwait as well as works by  famous American poets such as Maya Angelou and Edgar Allen Poe and  by recording artist Jill Scott.  Poetry recitations were the highlight of the evening.
