FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

American Embassy Hires Local Employment Advisor

Rose Hamade has joined the American Embassy as Local Employment Advisor.  In this newly-created position, Hamade will provide job-search assistance to spouses of American government personnel assigned to Kuwait.  By networking with the Kuwaiti business community, she will help to match available jobs in the local market with qualified applicants.

The Local Employment Advisor is a new position under a State Department initiative called Strategic Networking Assistance Program (SNAP).  SNAP is dedicated to assisting spouses of U.S. government employees assigned to U.S. embassies and consulates abroad with their search for employment in the host country. The Local Employment Advisor provides spouses with such services as resume writing, interviewing skills, briefings on local workplace culture, and listings of local companies.

The benefit for local employers of the SNAP program are many.  The spouses of American government personnel often are professional candidates that are committed to living in the country for a specific period of time.  They have usually been educated and trained in the United States, often speak more than one language, and are familiar with multi-cultural environments.  In addition, as the candidates already live in the host country, the employer usually need not provide relocation packages.

“The pool of applicants that I work with consists of talented professionals with experience in many fields,” Hamade said.  “Matching them with jobs here in Kuwait is a win-win situation for both the candidate and the local employer.”  There is no fee to employers for candidates referred to them by the Local Employment Advisor.

Hamade has lived in the Middle East for more than 20 years, including five years in Kuwait and 15 years in Saudi Arabia where she taught English.  She also spent time in Lebanon where she gained experience in administration, recruitment and career development.   Prior to that she worked as director of investor relations for a medical business in Philadelphia.

Potential employers can reach Rose Hamade by email at SNAPKuwait@state.gov, or by telephone at 259-1245.
